There is no doubt that hearing or reading about these events can be very stressful. However, these events may be particular difficult for children to learn about. In fact, studies have found that children can experience high levels of stress as a result of being exposed to media coverage of traumatic events. Parents can play a major role in helping their children cope with stressful life events, thereby reducing their risk for developing more severe anxiety.
