A New On-line Resource for Veterans

Studies show that many veterans suffer from PTSD (as well as a wide range of other difficulties, such as substance use, depression, and physical health problems) due to their experiences while in the military. The symptoms of PTSD can have a tremendous negative impact on numerous aspects of a veteran's life, and the road to recovery can be long and difficult. Fortunately, there are a number of effective treatments available for PTSD, such as exposure therapy. But just because these treatments are available doesn't necessarily mean that people will actually seek them out or stick with them once they start. Stigma can be a major obstacle in seeking out treatment.

The Department of Veterans Affairs and the National Center for PTSD have developed a new website, AboutFace, to help veterans learn more about PTSD and its treatment, with the hope that more veterans will get connected with appropriate care. AboutFace provides video testimonials from real veterans who've been diagnosed with PTSD and received treatment for the condition. If you are a veteran who may be struggling with PTSD and in need of treatment, check out this important website today.
