Hearing Voices and Other Unusual Experiences in PTSD

In addition to the PTSD symptoms of re-experiencing, avoidance, and hyperarousal, people with PTSD are also more likely to experience psychotic symptoms as compared to people without PTSD. In particular, people with PTSD have been found to experience more of the "positive symptoms" of psychosis. These include such experiences as hearing voices or seeing things that other people cannot see.
