Do You Have PTSD and Diabetes? What You Need to Consider.

Friday October 5, 2007
Studies have found that individuals with PTSD are more likely to have diabetes, and among people with diabetes, PTSD-related stress and the unhealthy behaviors that often accompany PTSD may negatively impact the course of a person's diabetes. A study in the Journal of Behavioral Medicine found that people with diabetes and co-occurring PTSD and depression were more likely to have a number of health problems, such as higher weight, higher triglyceride levels, and worse cholesterol levels. You can read more about this study here. You can also learn more about diabetes and how to manage it by visiting the About.com site on diabetes.
